Joe Lando is here and he has his dog with him. Look at this .... this is Emma, that's Joe ... and in a moment - an Emma talent show - something you will not see anywhere else for rather obvious reasons. Rich stars get richer and we're all wealthier because Joe Lando is here with us today. Alright! It is a busy life for Joe Lando from Dr. Quinn. He's the executive co producer and star of a show called Higher Ground and we'll talk about that in a moment, but first, it's kind of tense, Joe, what can Emma do to reportedly? JOE: Emma can sing to Andrea Bocelli. She's never been in a studio. Oddly enough Joe, O.K. - we have Andrea Bocelli that we're going to play on the speakers for you --- JOE: O.K. (plays music) which is Emma's cue to start singing but she's not going to play the game and so Joe howls for her. Everyone laughs. JOE: Oh, she wants to so badly. Well, I'm sorry. O.K. here's the deal. You're the star and the co-executive producer of the show. What does the boss think of how the star is doing? JOE: The boss thinks that the star is doing pretty well. The show that I'm doing - Higher Ground - it's from Michael Braverman, Doug Schwartz and Matthew Hastings - says to say hello - he's one of the other producers and it's a great show about kids at risk. And I run a school for dysfunctonal children ... Peter is a former stock broker and financial whiz kid whose high life generated into a nightmare of drugs and alcohol. After recovering in a wilderness detox center, he dedicates his life to helping teens at risk. JOE: Yup, that's it. Shall we look at a clip of the show? JOE: Awww, why? They all laugh. Canada or here? JOE: We shoot up in B.C. and I've moved up there with the family and started a whole new life, just kind of ... Do you miss it here at all ... I mean what was happening is there's so much work in Canada, so many people go there and some are happy about it and some people are not happy about it. What do you think? JOE: I'm very happy about it. I'm sad that I have to leave L.A. and all my friends and I feel bad that we're not able to make this kind of show in the States, but it's budgetary restrictions and such, but I'm very happy living up here, it's a great life and things have been just swell since Dr. Quinn went down. You know what - we're going to show a little bit from Dr. Quinn (inserts clip of Sully) as we look at that - I mean do people ask you it still all the time? (he is referring to Joe's hair). JOE: Where did you hair go? It's there, it's just on the inside now. I see. Was there one day at Fantastic Sams when it was like snip, snip, snip? JOE: Yeah, it was like Fantastic Sams - the guy, like he charged about 300 bucks an hour.... and so now I have this. Was it someone like your agent or manager who said I would do this? JOE: No, not it was actually just, I had a son who was coming in two weeks and I just decided to cut my hair and be a daddy. And I also kind of think I knew in my heart that the show was going down, so it was just good, you know, seven years of it. Where can we watch Higher Ground? On the Fox Family Channel? JOE: Fox Family - hide and go seek is what they're playing with it, so if you can find it, please watch. It's a good show. It's a very good show and I'm very proud of it. You've had the opportunity to sell it around the world? JOE: Yeah, I've just went to Monaco and sold it to France and I think Spain and Italy and those kinds of places ... Actor, animal lover ... and ... JOE: Come here Emma. Here's another trick. Alright last trick from Emma and Joe Lando JOE: No, no, no, not there - ready? Emma! Up here! Nooo - Emma leaps in to Joe's arms to applause. Oh what a great dog. Thank you so much. Emma thank you ... uh oh, she found a bagel, I don't think she's supposed to eat that ... (Too much chaos to hear any more as Joe exits). |
