Stephanie Dolan, GA: Has your heart ever been broken?

JOE LANDO:     First time was by my high school sweetheart Alison La Placa, who then went away to be a very accomplished actress, who also inspired me to be an actor and to be myself.

Jodi, Maryland:  I am curious.... with all the different characters that an actor plays in his/her career, how is it possible that you separate from that character at the end of the day?  Granted, some characters that you have played (Sully, etc.) may work to your advantage if you took him home (lol), but all kidding aside, how does one remove himself from the bad components?

JOE LANDO:     I’d have to say some actors take their roles home with them, good or bad characters.  I never take them home and I don’t include them as a part of my personality.  Some actors do it for their own sanity.

Samantha Lee Schwenk, PA:  Hello Joe.  I was wondering if you are going to be in any other movies or programs with Jane? I think that you two have the most precious gift when you work together.

    JOE LANDO:
I happen to agree, Jane and I are very fortunate to have that chemistry.  I am looking forward soon to doing a project together, other than Dr. Quinn.

Tiffany, Livermore, California:  Mr. Lando -- Joe, everyone loves you as Sully in Dr. Quinn. Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely star struck with you in that series, but I want to know about Higher Ground. What was it like working in that sorta situation? You played a powerful role as Peter Scarbrow. How did you get into character? Why did that show go off air…I know it would have picked up a great following. It’s sad that it wasn't on longer because I know that many teens have the same problems as those featured on that show.  I hope to hear from you shortly.  It would be nice. You and your family take care.  Lots of love from your fan.

JOE LANDO:     Tiffany, thank you very much.  I also believe in Higher Ground and was very emotionally attached because of its theme that dealt with more tragic sides of life.  I was very sad when the show was cancelled and thought there were so many more stories to tell but, sadly, we never had the opportunity to tell those.

Val, Vienna:  Why aren’t you showing more pictures of your family anymore?  The fans would really like to see them.

JOE LANDO:     My kids aren’t part of the deal.

Dusty, PA:  Well, for starters I don't know if my questions will get answered but here goes. I was wondering if, Mr. Lando, you would consider doing comedy, perhaps romantic comedy, say a film or TV.  I recently became a fan of yours since recovering from spine surgery...I think you are a talented actor and I’d like to see more of you doing television and films. I'd also like to ask you which leading ladies would you like to work with. For myself, I’d like to see you paired with Helen Hunt and possibly Jennifer Anniston.  I mean if Mel Gibson can do it why can't Joe Lando, I mean Joe Lando is far more attractive and has sensuality to him that Mel does not. I guess it's true some men get better looking with age, very true for you.

JOE LANDO:     Thank you. You just appealed to all my vanities. Right now I welcome to work with any actress on par with Jennifer Anniston, except that girl from Grey’s Anatomy that smokes cigarettes, but I also look forward to working with Jane again.

Dawn Jones, Ontario, Canada:  Joe - On Dr. Quinn, you seemed to have a fondness for the different dogs you worked with.  Is this true and do you currently own a dog?

JOE LANDO:     I Love dogs.  I still have Billy and Emma, a Border collie and a Border Collie/Lab since Dr. Quinn was on the air.  My two favorite dogs were Cody, who played Wolf on Dr. Quinn and my own Rosie.  Both are gone but still hold a special place in my heart.

Alison Hoggarth, Milnthorpe, England:  If Joe Lando had been around in the mid-eighteen hundreds, would he have preferred to live in big city Boston or small town Colorado Springs and what would his profession have been?

JOE LANDO:     Between the two, I would definitely like to live in Colorado Springs and I think I would have been the owner of the bar, like Hank.

Chelsey E., Lubbock, TX: ...I've...been able to catch up on Higher Ground and am very disappointed you weren't able to take that show further. I think that show actually helped to open quite a few doors, if you look at the other teen dramas that are on TV now.

Is there a certain role or genre you would personally like to explore; Crime, drama, comedy, another period piece like Quinn, or maybe even another soap?

JOE LANDO:       I would love to revisit a show like Higher Ground.  I believe that it was certainly ahead of its time as far as mixing adult storylines with teen stories.  I feel that that show is far more important with the message it was trying to get across than some of the similar fare on TV, i.e., Melrose Place, Gossip Girl, et cetera, et cetera.

Sheena, Scotland:  In the film Seeds of Doubt, with it being such a different role for you, what preparation do you do before playing such a dark character and it is very draining playing a part like that?  It was a great movie.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.

JOE LANDO:     I think what I did for that film, some of the regular research I had done went back to an acting class on serial killers and people with that type of personality.  It was not what I was used to but it’s definitely not a mindset I would like to stay in for any length of time.

That's all the questions I have time to answer today from the Hollywood Show. Speak to everyone soon. Have a happy and peaceful summer.
